DT-50573 is a 2 piece tool consisting of a spring compressor and retaining ring expander cone. It is used in a hydraulic press to push on the 4-5-6 clutch assemblies in the 6T40, 6T50 and compress the dam spring so the clutch retaining ring can be removed. The clutch assembly can then be disassembled for overhaul. The tool is again used to compress the spring to allow installation of the retaining ring once the clutch piston has been serviced . The tapered retaining ring expander cone assures the retaining ring is not over-expanded as it is installed. The previously essential J-46620-2 Ring Installer pushes on the retaining ring and the fingers on the installer evenly push the ring down the expander cone until it snaps into the ring groove.
